(Bangkok Post file photo)The Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has again invoked Section 44 of the interim charter, this time to soften the minimum education requirement of Matthayom 3 for security guards. The education requirement was introduced early this year and was met with loud protests by many security companies and by security guards themselves, who said it was unfair, unrealistic and damaging to the companies' ability to provide services. The order said the amendment was necessary because the Mathayom 3 education requirement had negatively affected a thousand security service companies and a large number of people who already had jobs, or hoped for future employment as security guards. People already working as a security guard must also get a permit within 360 days.
